Vintage Japanese Wagasa Umbrella
Whether paired with a beautiful kimono or in the hands of an elegant Geisha, Japanese traditional umbrellas (wagasa) are a popular fashion accessory as well as an eye-catching home decor piece.
This paper umbrella is simple with a solid red color. The headpiece at the very top is a yellow and brown vinyl fabric with yellow and blue string. The inner frame is bamboo stained a medium brown and tied together with yellow string. The handle is made of slender natural bamboo lacquered with black and has a metal end piece. Closed, the outer ribs are lacquered rich reddish-brown with orange tips.
