Vintage Japanese Miniature Taiko Drum Boys' Festival Display
This is a Japanese vintage miniature brown and gold display-only traditionally-made taiko drum with a stand, drumsticks, and scepter. The drum body is made of wood while the heads are made of animal skin and painted over with gold paint. There is a decorative metal piece with loop on the top side of the drum with a purple, gold, and white braided cord attached. The drum sits on a black and gold wooden stand with metal chrysanthemum decorations and two white cord tassels. There is also a wooden platform with silk fabric on the top surface. As extras, there are two small drum sticks and a scepter often held by high-ranking officials, samurai, nobles, and royalty. It comes in the original paper box.
This Japanese Taiko drum is a traditional decoration for the Boys' Day Festival celebrating good health and fortune for boys on May 5th each year.
