Vtg Japanese Boy Festival Fabric Doll Kimekomi Ningyo
This is a vintage Japanese Gogatsu-ningyo fabric doll used for display during the Boys' Festival in May. It wears gold hakama pants with a pale green top and holds a sword. It has a wooden base with silk fabric applied according to the kimekomi technique. It comes with extra fabric and the original paper box.
Gogatsu-Ningyo (May dolls) are amulets wishing for the health and growth of children that are displayed during the Boys' Festival. Other items such as armor decorations, helmet decorations, and warrior dolls (warlords) are also popular.
