Vintage Japanese Chochin Lantern w/ Box
This is a vintage Japanese paper lantern called chochin. It is made with thin washi paper with a thin bamboo frame. It compresses flat for storage. It is an upside down teardrop shape and is decorated with various flowers such as chrysanthemums and morning glories in white, blue, and yellow. It has one blue tassel on the bottom and inside, a metal spike to place a candle. The decorative hanging piece as well as the trim on the top and bottom are black with gold makie flowers. Original box is included.
