Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is mostly beige with a gold rim and a cloisonné-style illustrated design in red, green, and blue. This piece is kyo ware. It has a smooth texture. This bowl is signed with a stamped mark on the bottom. It is sturdy and easy to handle. This shape of this bowl is called wan-nari, which is a tea bowl resembling a typical soup or rice bowl with a straight edge lip.
Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
