Antique Japanese Buddhist Offering Stand Kuge Set
This is a pair of antique vintage offering stands called Kuge for the Buddhist altar in Japan. Cut in a floral shape with a removable top piece resembling a flower, this pair is painted with black and brushed gold lacquer. It is a utensil for offering rice cakes, fruits, Rakugan sweets, etc, and is mainly used by the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect of Buddhism. Each of the stands easily comes apart.

- Good condition considering its age. Crown of one has been broken and previously repaired (visible crack line on gold section and mismatch of crack on black section). Dark discoloration. Lacquer cracking and peeling in some places. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
