This is a vintage Japanese neck rest or pillow called takamakura. It is made of wood and is foldable.
A neck rest, or Takamakura, is a support stand for the neck designed to keep hair intact while sleeping or resting and was used by the Japanese traditional female entertainers, the Geisha, to preserve their outstanding hair.
