Vintage Japanese Lacquered Lidded Bowl
A deep red, almost brown, with a handpainted makie image of a vine of hyotan (gourds) in green and gold, this vintage lacquered wooden bowl with lid is a beautifully decorative addition to any traditional Japanese dinnerware set. This particular bowl is considered a nimonowan, a bowl made for boiled main dishes such as vegetables, fish, and sometimes tofu. It can also be used for soups and rice.
The gourd imagery typically represents happiness and success of a business.
