Vtg Japanese Boys’ Day Display

This is a vintage Japanese resin display set during Boys’ Day (also known as Children’s Day). This amazing, eye-catching set has a drum, a folding fan, and a shade resting on a black lacquered stand. The drum features a sparkling brown body, and the head has a design of trees on a cliff, which is also on the folding fan.  The shade is black with gold accents. All items have red and white braided tassels.  The stand has gold edges. 

Gogatsu-Ningyo (May dolls) are amulets wishing for the health and growth of children that are displayed during the Boys’ Festival. Other items such as armor decorations, helmet decorations, and warrior dolls (warlords) are also popular.
