Japanese Bamboo Kasa Hat

This is a vintage Japanese bamboo leaf Kasa (or Sugegasa) hat. It has Japanese characters painted on the top and a net on the inside to facilitate attachment to the head. Pilgrims traditionally wear this hat for protection from direct sunlight or rain and snow. It is also used as a prop in Japanese dance and is a perfect decorative item.

• Approx. 43.5 cm long x 20 cm tall; head resting net circumference approx 60 cm  
• Good condition considering its age. Some of the paint has faded. The net on the inside is detached on one of the 3 points. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
