Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Shandao Lacquered Wood Figurine

This is a Japanese vintage lacquered wood figurine of the monk Shandao (Sendo daishi) who had an influence on Honen, founder of the Jodoshu Buddhism. This figurine is painted in purple, gold and other colors. It is sitting on a stand in a classic Buddhist black and gold style, adorned with engraved floral details. Shandao is joining his hands in a praying pose.
