Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc, and even food. 

This is a vintage Japanese lidded wooden box made to hold a ceramic or porcelain vase. It is made from strong wood and is excellent for general storage, DIY, or decoration.

• Good condition considering age. The lid does not close nicely. Dents, scratches, stains and marks. Some nails are sticking out. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
