Antique Japanese Brushed Lacquered Wooden Tansu Storage Chest

This is an antique Japanese storage chest, also called tansu. Dark brown with a clear brushed lacquer coat, this sizable and heavy chest has four different-sized drawers with decorative metal hardware. The insides of the drawers are unlined. This beautiful tansu chest can be used for storing sewing supplies (as a haribako), jewelry, hobby supplies, or other trinkets.
