Vtg Japanese Wooden Tansu Storage Chest

This is a vintage Japanese storage chest, also called tansu. A muted brown color and rustic texture, this large chest has five drawers, two half-size and three full-size. It has decorative metal handle hardware and a lock on the bottom drawer (which is now broken). It has butterfly stickers that imitate traditional raden (mother-of-pearl/abalone) decoration. These may have been added at a later time. This beautiful tansu chest can be used for storing sewing supplies, jewelry, or other trinkets.
