Japanese Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest

This is a Japanese sewing box, also called Haribako. Finished with a natural dark brown color, it displays gorgeous natural wood grain and plant designs made with shell (raden). This tansu chest has five differently-sized drawers with simple metal hardware. A panel in the lid opens to reveal two compartments. There is also a slot on the side that was initially to house a small straight ruler. This beautiful piece can be used for storing sewing supplies, jewelry, or other trinkets.
