Japanese Wooden Bucket Sushioke

This is a vintage Japanese shallow wooden bucket made for serving sushi. It is called sushioke, hangiri, or handai. Made of precisely cut wood pieces, it is firmly held together via tension by metal plates, twisted wires, or woven/braided bamboo called taga. This particular bucket uses two thick bands of copper plate. While its main purpose is for serving food, this classic piece can also be used for general home or office decor.

• Good condition considering its age. Wear and tear due to age. Black marks and scuffs. Small chips and scratches around rim and on bottom. Please see the photos.
