Japanese Lidded Wooden Storage Box 

Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc. 

This is a handcrafted large Japanese wooden storage box. It has a step-top lid and is made to be carried easily by way of a sturdy ledge beneath the lid. It is lined with what appears to be some old ledger paper inside and out to protect the box.

• Good condition considering age. Lid panel is slightly warped and lifting. Paper wrapping on inside and outside peeling/torn. Small chips and cracks. Some scratches and discolorations. Insect damage on inside. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
