Vintage Japanese Wooden Decorative Plaque
This vintage Japanese wooden plaque features a white horse framed in a black frame. This panel is in a style similar to ema plaque found in shrines although it is not. The horse has red and blue details.
Ema is a small wooden plaque used at Shinto shrines, and sometimes Buddhist temples, that worshipers can write their wishes, hopes, and dreams on. Once written, it is hung on a special wooden stand or tree where the kami (spirits or gods) are thought to receive them.
