Vtg Japanese Ainu Wood-Carved Statue Nipopo Pair

This is a vintage Japanese Hokkaido Ainu wood-carving pair of small Nipopo dolls. “Nipopo” means “little tree child” or “doll” in the Ainu language, and is believed to grant any wish and bring happiness. They often come in pairs with a male and a female shape. These wooden statues also showcase traditional Ainu clothing and accessories. This set has green accents on the male carving and red on the female.
