Japanese Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print Hiroshige Utagawa
This is Utagawa Hiroshige’s Ukiyo-e called Kameido Umeyashiki. The kanji on the picture are 100 Famous Views of Edo (Meisho Edo Hyakkei), Kameido Umeyashiki, and Hiroshige. This is a reprint of a woodblock print, engraved by Kentaro Maeda and printer by Keiichiro Uesugi.
Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, flora and fauna, and erotica.
