Japanese Tea Ceremony Set Chabako
This is a Japanese vintage tea ceremony set, or chabako. Chabako is typically a wooden box used for storing and carrying a set of tea ceremony utensils. It contains a variety of essential tea ceremony items such as a green tea bowl and tea whisk. This particular chabako is unique in that it is in a black lacquered wooden display case with glass doors and simple metal accents on the top corners. It is reminiscent of a traditional hondoko alcove’s tokowaki (staggered shelves) and has a tatami base and shoji screen at the back. It has four shelves and a small drawer.
