Japanese Buddhist Bag for Prayer Beads Juzu

This is a Japanese vintage prayer beads Juzu bag, Jyuzu-Bukuro. It is used to carry rosary beads used in memorial services such as funerals.  It is made of a cotton fiber paper fabric that is a navy blue on the outside with numerous mon symbols. The inside continues the mon motif but inside the top flap is a gorgeous print of Utagawa Toyokuni’s ukiyoe depiction of the month of December with a beautiful woman in kimono. It has two pockets.
