Vtg Japanese Porcelain Yunomi Teacup

This is a Japanese porcelain vintage teacup, or yunomi. It has a light green crackled glaze and is adorned with pictures of round coins with a square hole in the center. These pictures are black or reddish brown and are, as well as the edge of the cup embellished with gold color foil. This teacup is lightweight and has a compact size. It is a colorful yet elegant and delicate piece.

This type of cups is called yunomi. They are sometimes more cylindrical but they are made for serving and drinking sencha (standard looseleaf tea). These cups are typically brought to guest in one’s home, a business, or a restaurant on a lacquered obon tray.
