Vtg Japanese Plaster Statue Piggy Bank 

This is a vintage Japanese plaster statue or piggy bank in the shape of Fukusuke ningyo. “Fukusuke ningyo” is a Japanese lucky charm born in the Edo era. It features a large head with a topknot and kneeling in the Seiza style.  
This statue wears a black kimono and a blue kamishimo, a formal attire for samurai or bushi. There is a design of kanji inside a lucky hammer, uchide no koduchi, on the body. It has a coin slot on the back. There is no place to open the bank, so it is assumed that when full, or when a goal or time period is reached, one would break the statue. A felt-like fabric is pasted on the bottom. It comes with a cardboard box.
