Japanese Picture For Hanging Scroll Kakejiku

This vintage Japanese picture is for a hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono). It features a painting of several hoju, the wish-granting sacred jewel in Buddhism. There is also a calligraphed poem. This piece is signed with a name and red seals. 

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
