Vintage Japanese Chochin Lantern Lamp Cover w/ Box

This is a vintage Japanese paper lantern called chochin. It is made with thin, translucent blue paper on a bamboo frame. The image on all sides depicts pine trees and men in boat on the sea. It has a series of hanging white tassels with beads throughout. This unique lantern is meant to hang from a lightbulb underneath a lampshade (as shown on the cover of the box). To protect the wood and paper from the heat of the bulb, it is held on by metal coils. The original box is included.

• Good condition considering age. Staining on tassels. Thin tears in paper, but still opens fully. Box is worn and fragile (torn on corners). Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
