Vintage Japanese Wooden Small Plate Echizen-Nuri Lacquerware

This is a vintage Japanese small plate called meimeizara, kozara, or Tsubakizara in the Echizen-Nuri style. Tsubakizara is a Kozara type with a low foot and a slightly raised rim. Meimeizara are often used in Japanese tea ceremonies for wagashi sweets, but can be used for other small desserts or dishes or even as teacup saucers (chataku), and they are large enough to hold a small spoon on the side.
