Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Box

This is a Japanese small square lidded box. It is lacquered in the Hida shunkei-nuri style, a caramel brown color with light edges. The base of the box is slightly tapered upward and the lid’s knob is made of two small rectangular pieces of wood. It is a shallow box that is excellent for holding small trinkets such as jewelry or cosmetics. It’s also a nice decorative piece in and of itself.
