Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Serving Tray

This is a vintage Japanese wooden serving tray, or Obon. This lacquered tray is coated in the classic bright caramel brown color of the Hida Shunkei style. Rectangular in shape, the tray has squared corners and a simple raised line design on the top surface. It can be used for serving a variety of things such as tea, snacks, a meal, etc.
Obon (serving trays) are typically used for serving drinks and snacks to guests in one’s home, business, etc, and are common for serving set meals (teishoku). They provide both function and beautiful decor.
