Antique Japanese Lacquered Lidded Bowl 

A bright red, with a handpainted makie image of a blooming chrysanthemum with leaves in gold and brown, this antique lacquered wooden bowl with lid is a beautifully decorative addition to any traditional Japanese dinnerware set. This particular bowl is considered a nimonowan, a bowl made for boiled main dishes such as vegetables, fish, and sometimes tofu. It can also be used for soups and rice.

• Fair condition. Lacquer cracks and bubbling on bowl and inside of lid. Lacquer chips on base of bowl. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
