Japanese Lacquered Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest

This is a Japanese small storage chest, also called tansu. Coated with a striking black and deep reddish-brown lacquer in kamakurabori style, it is decorated with bold hand-carved peony flower (botan). It has three similar-sized drawers with simple metal hardware. This beautiful tansu chest can also be used for storing sewing supplies (haribako), jewelry, or other trinkets.

• Good condition considering age. Tiny chips on flower design on bottom drawer front. Some scratches and wear around edges. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
