Japanese Lacquered Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest

This is a Japanese small storage chest, also called tansu. Coated with a striking deep reddish-brown lacquer in kamakurabori style, it is decorated with bold hand-carved stalks of bamboo with leaves. It has four similar-sized drawers with simple metal hardware. This beautiful tansu chest can also be used for storing sewing supplies (haribako), jewelry, or other trinkets.

• Good condition considering age. Shallow chip on front of top drawer. Some scratches and wear around edges. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
