Japanese Lacquered Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest

This is a Japanese sewing box, also called haribako. Coated with a striking deep reddish-brown lacquer in kamakurabori style, it is decorated with bold hand-carved plum blossoms (ume) and leaves. It has 3 different size drawers (with one wooden insert) with simple wooden knob hardware. This beautiful tansu chest can also be used for storing sewing supplies, jewelry, or other trinkets.
