Japanese Vintage Porcelain Sake Cup

This is a vintage Kutani Ware Japanese porcelain sake cup. This particular type of cup is called tsubomi or “bud type” due to its resemblance to a flower bud. In terms of size, it is also called ochoko. This unique cup features a shunga scene, erotic art made famous by woodblock print (ukiyoe) artists. It is hand-painted with a variety of colors, including a shining gold. The outside of the cup is red with gold designs.
