Vintage Iron Branding Stamp

This is a vintage cast iron branding press stamp called yaki-in. This piece is meant to be placed over fire or coals and is used to mark and cook Japanese sweets such as senbei and manju. Each paddle has the image of a chrysanthemum. There is a metal loop at the end of the handles to hold the press shut while firing.
