Japanese Decorative Imitation Sword

This is a vintage Japanese decorative imitation tanto short sword. The blade is made of metal crafted to look like a sharpened edge (not sharp) with a metal guard (tsuba) and a handle made of gold cord, wood, and textured plastic resin sheets. The guard is made of metal and features cranes as well as pine trees. Woven into the handle are metal dragon charms called menuki. The sheath is wood coated with striking nashiji lacquer which is a gorgeous copper color that sparkles. There are other metal embellishments with the dragon motif such as at the top and base of the handle.
Often used in stage plays, traditional theatre, historical reenactments, during festivals, and for general cosplay, imitation swords are also a popular decorative object.
