Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku

This is a vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) representing mountains and a river. The mountains are topped with trees and a small boat with a human fishing is depicted on the river. Between the mountains and the river flows a waterfall. This kakejiku is painted with green and blue tones, making it a colorful yet harmonious piece. This piece is not signed. 

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
