Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku

This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features a scene with a traditional house, a man carrying stuff, and trees. It has some characteristics of the sansui (mountains and river) landscape paintings, but does not feature a mountain and is slightly colored. This piece is signed with a name and a red seal. 

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. It was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan and has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room, and Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
