Vtg Japanese Boys’ Day Military Fan Display

This is a vintage Japanese military fan display set out during Boys’ Day (also known as Children’s Day). It’s a plastic resin fan painted with gold and silver color. At the very center is the red sun. The base piece is black with metal decoration. It also comes with a small scepter that rests across the top of the main stand with a purple and white tassel and a hanging piece made of gold paper.

Gogatsu-Ningyo (May dolls) are amulets wishing for the health and growth of children that are displayed during the Boys’ Festival. Other items such as armor decorations, helmet decorations, and warrior dolls (warlords) are also popular.

• Fair condition. Looks as though the fan was subjected to high heat and has melt marks and some disfiguration. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
