Vintage Japanese Embroidered Ball Decorative Toy

This traditionally crafted Japanese fabric ball, Temari, has been constructed using black, light blue, orange, yellow, and gold embroidery thread in a star pattern. 
Meaning “hand ball” in Japanese, temari are a popular traditional toy often given to children during the New Years holiday and often is a symbol of friendship and loyalty. Through history, the ball became less of a toy and more of a beautiful decorative object made mostly of scraps of kimono fabrics.
