Vtg Japanese Clay Cow Zodiac Decoration

This is a vintage Japanese clay figurine of a rabbit. It is lightweight and is painted a matte white color. There is a painted shochikubai design (pine, bamboo, plum blossom) on one side with gold accents and pink ears. It has a felt pad on the bottom to protect surfaces.
Rabbits, or usagi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year’s sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
