Vtg Japanese Clay Bell Dorei 

This is a vintage Japanese clay bell, Dorei or Tsuchi-Suzu, in the shape of a colorful temari ball. White, pink, red, green, and yellow with a traditional geometric design, this ball has a gold paper band around the middle and a red and white string attached to the top. There is a small white clay ball inside.
Dorei bells have a long history and have been used in festivals and ceremonies since the Jomon period (about 13000 to 2300 years ago) when they were said to have the power to ward off evil spirits.

• Good condition considering age. Some scuff marks and discoloration. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
