Vtg Japanese Clay Bell Dorei 

This is a vintage Japanese clay bell, Dorei or Tsuchi-Suzu. This dorei is in the shape of a combination red and white camellia flower (tsubaki). This is a souvenir item popular in Nara Prefecture. There is a small brown clay ball inside as well as a dark green string tied at the top.
Dorei bells have a long history and have been used in festivals and ceremonies since the Jomon period (about 13000 to 2300 years ago) when they were said to have the power to ward off evil spirits.

• Good condition considering age. Some scuff marks and discolorations. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
