Japanese Wooden Kokeshi Doll

This vintage Japanese wooden kokeshi doll has a classic design (round head, cylindrical body) carved from one solid piece of wood. The body is straight, and it is painted with a red floral and banded line design. The facial expression is bright and confident, and it is surrounded by tufts of black painted hair and extra red details to match the body. The head is carved with a bun and painted black with a red spot on the very top. It has a matte texture, but a very slight shine from a thin coating of clear lacquer.
Kokeshi dolls are traditional toys, figurines, and charms crafted from wood that are an excellent decorative representation of Japanese craftsmanship and traditional culture.
