Japanese Wooden Kokeshi Doll

This vintage Japanese wooden kokeshi doll has a classic design (round head, cylindrical body). The body is straight with a tapered neck, and it is painted with black floral designs and line bands on the bottom. The facial expression is innocent and playful, and it is surrounded by tufts of black painted hair. It has been brushed with a clear lacquer coating to give it shine. 
Kokeshi dolls are traditional toys, figurines, and charms crafted from wood that are an excellent decorative representation of Japanese craftsmanship and traditional culture.
