Japanese Ceramic Yunomi Teacup

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic Hagi Ware pottery teacup. The cup has a smooth, crackled gray glaze covering the entire cup except a slight pink band on the bottom near the foot. Famously, Hagi Ware cups and bowls often have a triangular notch cut out of the foot (kirikodai).
This cup is called yunomi, made for serving and drinking sencha (standard loose-leaf tea). It is typically brought to guests in one’s home, a business, or a restaurant on a lacquered obon tray.
