Vintage Japanese Ceramic Tanuki Statue

This is a vintage ceramic tanuki (raccoon dog) statue. It is brown and beige, wearing a little red happi jacket with a cheery expression and a straw hat. Tanuki are a popular symbol of success and good luck and are often found outside businesses. Like on most statues of this kind, the tanuki has a sake bottle and staff on one arm and a bankbook or ledger on the other. There is a small hole in the fist hand that likely held a small fan at one time.
