Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement

This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. It is glazed a textured black and light brown with a line pattern on the outside edge. This suiban is round and stands tall via sculpted platform.
Suiban means “water tray” and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that hold ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.
