Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement

This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. This piece is abstract modern design with a smooth, yet textured white glaze. It has a half-cylinder shape with a hole off-center. It balances on a small round foot which also provides an indent on the inside in which to place a small round kenzan weight.
Suiban means “water tray” and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that hold ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.
