Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement

This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. It is glazed with a dark gray crossed-line design on the outside and a textured white speckled beige inside. It has a small flat inside space and stands on a short pedestal foot. It has three curved cuts along the rim that adds a simple, wave-like decoration to the overall piece.
Suiban means “water tray” and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that holds ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.

• Good condition considering age. Dried adhesive residue mark on inside bottom. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
